Taru Villas the Long House - Bentota

Als ich mich entschied, nach Bentota zu kommen, überlegte ich, ob ich im Long House oder in der Villa Bentota übernachten sollte. Die Anwesen sind fünf Gehminuten voneinander entfernt und ich habe die Villa Bentota während meines Aufenthalts im Long House besucht, um zu sehen, wie die Hotels im Vergleich sind. Im Wesentlichen ist Long House weit überlegen. Ich habe mehrere Zimmer bei VB gesehen und sie schienen im Vergleich zu LH veraltet zu sein. Sie rochen auch komisch, aber vielleicht lag das nur daran, dass sie die Klimaanlage nicht benutzt hatten. Der erste Eindruck bei LH ist WOW. Die Lage ist absolut wunderschön und die Zimmer groß. Davon abgesehen gibt es einige Probleme bei LH. Das Größte ist, dass sie anscheinend keine richtige Alkohollizenz haben, was bedeutet, dass nur Bier und nur eine Auswahl an Weinen erhältlich sind. Keine Cocktails, keine Spirituosen. Dies war ein Problem für die britischen Gäste! Andere Nachteile sind, dass es den Zimmern an Privatsphäre mangelt (zumindest in meinem). Es gab einen schönen Sitzbereich im Freien neben meinem Zimmer, aber es war offen für alle, die vorbeigingen, was bedeutete, dass ich die Vorhänge geschlossen halten musste, wenn ich tagsüber im Zimmer war, da jeder, der vorbeiging, direkt in den Raum sehen konnte. Das WLAN war extrem lückenhaft und die Techniker kamen, um einen weiteren Router in meinem Zimmer zu installieren, damit ich einige Arbeitsanrufe tätigen konnte. Sie haben es am Ende sortiert, aber es wäre schön, wenn dies im Voraus erledigt worden wäre. Essen. Die srilankischen Currys sind für westliche Verhältnisse ausgezeichnet und günstig (rund 15 USD für einen Teller mit Fleisch-/Fisch-Curry, zusammen mit Gemüse-Currys und anderen Kleinigkeiten). Das westliche Essen ist jedoch in Ordnung. Am ersten Abend schickte ich meinen Schweinebauch zurück, weil er nicht lange genug gekocht wurde und immer noch zäh war. Am nächsten Abend machte der Küchenchef ein schönes Hähnchenschnitzel, das mit Süßkartoffelpüree serviert wurde, aber dem ganzen Gericht fehlte es an Geschmack. Ich ersetzte es durch ein lokales Gericht, Senffisch, das meilenweit besser war. Ein weiterer Punkt ist, dass die Küche sehr langsam / unflexibel wirkt. Zum Beispiel wurde mir am letzten Abend gesagt, dass es eine Stunde dauern würde, das Abendessen zuzubereiten, weil ich nicht im Voraus reserviert hatte. Es gab keine anderen Gäste. Wenn Sie srilankische Gerichte zum Frühstück wünschen (was ansonsten durchschnittlich ist), müssen Sie sie am Vorabend informieren. Jemand gibt dem Koch eine Rakete! Er macht jedoch eine ausgezeichnete Maissuppe. Die Kellner sind ausgezeichnet, besonders Dinesh und sein Kumpel, an dessen Namen ich mich jetzt nicht erinnern kann. Bitte geben Sie ihnen ein Trinkgeld, da sie sehr fleißig sind und immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen haben. Ich verbrachte einen Tag am Strand, der über die Bahngleise am Ende des Gartens des Langen Hauses zugänglich ist. Während ich dort war, unterhielt ich mich mit einem wirklich netten jungen Mann namens Chandi, der bei Restaurantbuchungen, Ideen für Unternehmungen und Ausflügen in die Umgebung behilflich sein kann. Wonderful modern boutique hotel in an excellent location by the beach. Fantastic restaurant by a beautiful, family friendly pool. Clean, spacious rooms. Wonderful friendly service. Highly recommended!

Lovely boutique hotel. The staff are amazing and I have only positive things to say out our stay. The food is also great and the pool a welcome opportunity to cool down. Our rooms were all very spacious, wonderfully cool and I loved the outside shower! The stunning beach is a very short walk across a railway line and is very quiet too. When we booked I was a little concerned about the proximity of the railway line but there are only a few, slow trains each day and we actually enjoyed watching them go by and waving to the travellers. It added to our experience. Genuinely can’t fault this place nor the staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Definitely worth a visit! I hope to be back.

I’ve spent 5 days staying at Taru Villas as part of my longer vacation on Sri Lanka and enjoyed a very relaxing and calm atmosphere this property offered. The hotel is very well maintained and beautifully furnished. The public areas offer comfortable spaces to relax with nice tropical plants in the garden, the pool is of generous size and there are plenty of sun loungers on the side. Also the room I booked was very specious and designed in a very functional way providing plenty of storage spaces and all the facilities one would expect of an upmarket hotel. All staff members are approachable, friendly and helpful and are a big asset to the property. A couple of things could be improved, in particular the way that breakfast is served. It consists of several different options and It takes quite a lot of time to get them on the table. Coffee is served at the beginning and by the time the bread and croissants arrive it gets cold which is a bit annoying. And while I had no issues with the quality of food in general, I would be more satisfied if all breakfast options were served within a shorter time frame. Also I’ve noticed that cocktails are served with barely or no alcohol in them - at least I did not taste any of it in a mojito and pinacolada that I had on two occasions by the pool, so it’s something that needs to be looked into. Taru Villas enjoys a brilliant location by the fantastic Bentota Beach that was actually very quiet during my stay and I loved relaxing on it. It’s definitely a good place for unwinding and simply getting away from the more hectic parts of the coast.

Amazing hotel right at the beach in Bentota. Beautiful and peaceful location and amazing staff. Rooms were spascious, and both breakfast and dinner was also top quality! We would absolutely love to go back next time we are in Sri Lanka. Thanks

We spent the last two days of our Sri Lanka visit this February at Taru Villas - The Long House in Bentota. We absolutely loved our stay. The property is beautiful - offering a lot of space and tasteful Sri Lankan architecture and design. The rooms and the pool and restaurant area are equally beautiful. With only 10 rooms, Taru Villas offers a private and very relaxing environment. The staff was really kind and professional, and we want to thank ***an and all the staff at Taru Villas for a great stay. The hotel has access to the sea and upon request sunbeds and umbrella can be set up there. Also, the food is extremely good. The location is great, as close to Bentota‘s centre, but away from traffic and the overall buzz. Definetly recommend!

We stayed at the the Taru Long House late January and thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights there. It was a welcome break in beautiful surroundings after 2 weeks of touring Sri Lanka. The rooms were stylish and spacious, the pool area gorgeous and it's a minute walk to the sandy beach. The highight was the great personalized service, whether housekeeping, restaurant or reception. In particular, ***an from the reception was so helpful in giving us tips, checking if everything was to our satisfaction and eager to assist. For example, my suitcase zipper was torn and shoes needed repairing - he organized the repairs within a day and to a reasonalble price. Just wish we had more time there and would definately stay again!

This Hotel is small with only some but spacy and comfortable rooms. from the first moment when you check in you feel the special spirit of the place and the stuff. everybody seams to work there just to make you feel happy. Almost none of your wishes will be denied. ***an the assistent manager is an outstanding friendly person who is constantly monitoring the quality of the services . He treated us like VIP's and made our stay something special to remember.

Spending the last hours relaxing before we have to leave. We have spend three amazing nights here and everything has been perfect! Impecible service, beautiful surroundings, delicious food. They have done everything to keep us happy. Thank you for this and for the late check out which is making our last hours so much nicer.
