I phoned the hotel and checked with the staff before we stayed there concerning whether or not fragrance is used in the rooms. I was told that no fragrance was used to clean or deodorize the rooms. Upon entering the hotel, the lobby was filled with fragrance, and so was our room. After one night there, and feeling very ill, we had to find another hotel. People with certain conditions, like asthma and eczema, often cannot be around fragrance, especially high levels of fragrance like the amount of fragrance in your hotel. Hotels are going to have to change the way they do things to accommodate those with sensitivities. It's a huge problem and it affects a lot of people. Under the Americans with disabilities act, I am asking you to stop using cleaning products with fragrance, to stop using cleaning products with strong
smelling chemicals, and to stop using air fresheners so that people can breathe clean air and not have to suffer the health effects due to being exposed to these irritants. I should also mention that upon entering our hotel room, the toilet seat had urine all over it. Luckily for us the staff was very helpful and did not charge us for the remainder our stay. ******* was absolutely no help in this situation and we will not use them again. We also will no longer be staying in Marriott Courtyard hotels because of the fragrance issue.
