Having read all the postive reviews about this hotel I was very quick to disregard the negative ones - how wrong was I. We were so dissappointed with our experience. We booked a 2 night stay for our first wedding anniversary, which I mentioned by email. This was supposed to be a relaxing 2 night spa weekend which turned out to be anything but. Firstly we struggled to get parked in the absolutely bunged caprark. We then checked into our room which I can only describe as one of the most basic hotel rooms we have ever stayed in. Bearing in mind we booked a classic double 'lakeview' room, I dread to think what the most basic rooms look like as our was more of a "treeview room". The view from our room overlooked some massive trees, so that was a lovely waste of money on the upgraded room. We then recieved a card to wish us happy anniversary which was the one and only mention of it. We were staying for 2 nights, there was 2 coffee pods, so one each? An open packet of slippers which needless to say we didn't use. Then to get ourselves away from the bleak room we decided to try out the 'spa' and in all honestly we wished we hadn't bothered. Firstly the reception lady asked if we would be swimming, to which I said no we just wanted to use the hottub and jacuzzi to which she replied you will need swimming caps anyway at £2 each. Then we went to put our towels in the lockers, which was an even bigger nigh**are as half the locks were broke and the remaining ones were an absolute nigh**are to figure out how to work. Then we got into the 'spa' and firstly saw some kids swimming lessons taking place, which was a very relaxing a**osphere. Having spent longer trying to work the lockers than in the water itself, we decided just to go back to our room. The next morning at breakfast we went down at 10am which giving the fact last breakfast time was 10.30 we thought breakfast would still have been plentiful. How wrong were we! The juices were basically non existent and when my husband went up, there was no apple juice or water left and no sign of them being replenished😂 I then went to get myself some toast, and there was about 2 slices left in the box. When pouring my milk into my cereal the manager had to come over and hold the milk container up as there was barely enough left for my bowl. I could understand this if we were staying in a value hotel however not so much from "one of the top Northern Ireland hotels with a reputation for excellence". We then arrived down the 2nd morning for breakfast and the water dispenser was completely empty 😂 also we had been told the last time slot for breakfast was 10.30, however the hot food was turned off at 10.20 and when a few ladies arrived shortly after they were told breakfast was finished for the day. The whole experience just left us feeling bored and fed up, as we searched for alternative accommodation for the 2nd night of our stay but then decided against as we had already wasted £450. Basic cost cutting at every op

We went to the Killyhevlin, for drinks. We sat out on the terrace as the weather was beautiful. We asked the young waitress could we order coffee and a drink. She said no we would have to go inside and order it. I thought this was a very strange thing in a four star hotel. There were lots of people sitting outside, so I just can't understand why we couldn't order coffee from the terrace.

Before arrival I had emailed the reception staff who were very friendly in their emails. Upon check in we were greeted by a lovely friendly male guy. He was the last friendly person we met staff wise in the hotel. The room was ok, it was clean, the furniture worn, not very inviting. The bathroom was big and spacious. The view from the hotel was lovely. The hallways need updating, carpets dirty, vending machine along the corridors, not the luxury resort that is portrayed to be. It is not a cheap hotel, the cost of the room, the food, drinks are overpriced. If I am staying in a luxury hotel I expect to pay this and do pay this because you pay for a luxury hotel, this is not a luxury hotel but they charge like it is. We went to the playground with our daughter with consisted of 3 items, this is not a playground as stated on their Web site. We went to the bar for a drink and stood there for 10 minutes to eventually be greeted with "yeah" by the bar tender, ordered 2 drinks and sat down. The bar area or lounge is horrible, one section is like a canteen and the rest are tables left with dirty plates sat on them, dirty carpets, not a nice setting. The view was the only good thing. We booked a 4 course meal as we were celebrating my husbands birthday which I mentioned on booking. I asked for the time to be changed to earlier as my daughter was hungry but they couldn't fit us in. We went down for dinner to be directed to the same canteen/bar area and were greeted with a sign stating to stand here for a table. We stood and stood and no one came near us after 10 mins waiting I went in and stood in the bar to be ignored by staff, very uncomfortable to be left standing in the middle of a busy bar. Eventually a girl came over, no hi just said our table wasn't ready and to go back to reception and wait. We got our table at 7.20, our reservation was for 7. We were asked if we wanted a drink and I asked for the wine menu which I received but they didn't come back to take an order. Someone then came over to take a food order and I asked to order a drink aswell. We waited another 10 minutes and I had to ask again if we could have our drinks to be told oh sorry they lost the docket and the drinks would be over now. The Wine was horrible and overpriced. The food was disgusting, we didn't eat it, my husband ordered vegetable soup to start but he got leak and potato, we couldn't ask for it to be changed as staff didn’t come over to ask if we were OK. The mains we didn't eat and my daughter didn't eat her food either. The staff never asked how the food was, if we needed anything, it was more a feeling of eat and get out. We had to ask to order dessert, even that was disappointing I ordered a lemon cake with ice cream who puts ice-cream sitting in warm custard? the coffee I ordered didn't arrive and at this stage I didn't even try and find someone to ask we wanted to leave. I had to pay for our drinks as the food was already paid upon check in, I had to que and wait a

We usually stay in a woodland lodge but decided to try a self catering studio on this visit. Check-in was easy, staff friendly and helpful. While the studio was beautiful, it felt very claustrophobic and had no washing machine. The WiFi was patchy and apart from a very few, even the free view TV channels were so distorted that they were unwatchable. The food in the hotel was good but restaurant staff were inattentive, abrupt and in some cases even unhelpful - surprising given the excellent customer service level of reception staff. We wouldn’t book a studio again, the lodges are so much more comfortable.

Booked the hotel 4 months ago for a birthday treat and thought maybe rooms allocated on that basis instead of overlooking a car park. Disappointed with restaurant glasses, white wine glasses appear to be catering glasses similar to a social club, white wine not chilled and Bombay Sapphire not served in a gin glass. Outdoor hot tub not working properly or filtering H&S issue.

Fantastic night away. Stayed in the hotel on a Saturday night. Staff were very welcoming and pleasant. The spa area was nice and relaxing. The room was nice and spacious. Pints of Guinness were lovely as were the strawberry daiquis. We had an evening meal in the restaurant it fantastic. Again staff were friendly and service was timely. All set in a beautiful setting on the banks of River Erne. I will definitely be back

I’ve just spent the weekend at the Killyhevlin with my family celebrating my 50th birthday. We had 3 lakeside lodges and a premier lake view hotel room between us. Everything was perfect. The lodges are a little pricey but well worth the money. They’ve thought of absolutely everything. They’re so well equipped and comfortable and the location is just stunning. The staff are incredibly helpful (we did encounter one who was not but everyone else was amazing) nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant is great too. Such a lovely, spacious hotel with plenty of room and stunning views. We really did have a fabulous weekend.

Very relaxing short break. All staff encountered were knowledgeable, helpful and professional in their approach. We had dinner on both evenings in Hotel. My Wife and I were delighted with all dishes served in prompt manner. We thought menus was varied and tasty and look forward to returning sometime in future.
