Hotel Bois Joli

We were really looking forward to our stay at Bois Joli but I would not recommend it to anyone. Yes the views are lovely, the pool is good and some of the staff are pleasant but that’s about it. We arrived at about 9am for a 3 night stay and the receptionist informed us that we would not have a room until 4pm, asked us to pay our visitor taxes and gave no more information or help. In the event we were given a key at around 2pm and directed to a room which required a climb of over 90 steps, firstly steep outdoor steps with no handrail and then 2 indoor flights to the top floor, all of this with luggage. Be warned, there is no assistance available with luggage and no lift inside the building. As my husband has a problem with mobility we were promised help on leaving, due to arrive at 11am in advance of our 11.30 shuttle departure. By 11.20 no one had turned up so we struggled down with our cases, finally helped on the very steepest part by one of the room cleaning ladies who had spotted my difficulty. I could go on at length about our stay, which was problematic throughout, but can summarise in a few words. Downright rude and unhelpful receptionist, limited and expensive restaurant, in all something like the overseas branch of Fawlty Towers without the charisma of John Cleese.

The stay was great and the majority of the staff were very welcoming however one member at reception refused to give us beach towels to use the facilities the day of checking out. Note: We were not notified that towels would not be replaced once you give them back to the reception otherwise we would have keep them until our last day to enjoy the pool and give them back upon leaving the hotel. it would have been fair to either notify us or give us towels given that we were not informed of this by anyone. Majority of hotels would have given a towel replacement to use the facilities and the 3 stars rating for staff and service is due to this specific incident other than that everyone have been nice and welcoming to us. On a positive note - the restaurant staff were amazing!

Need more frequent shuttle service to and from the town. Front desk staff need to consistent about information provided to guests. Breakfast was plentiful but boring. Considering this is a French island, the dinner was extremely disappointing. Either a new chef should be hired or they just need to overhaul the menu.

Gorgeous, and tranquil setting! The best part of the hotel. However the restaurant is mediocre, overpriced, slow service and bland food for such a fabulous setting. Also, the so-called “free shuttles” are so infrequent that they are almost useless. There are only a handful that head into town and they end at 4:45pm. You have to make reservations for them, and even if you do, a number of people will still take your place. After dinner ends, you have zero food and snack options and the shuttle does not operate in evening though you could try to pay extra for one. Most of the information I received from the staff was completely unreliable. We really felt like we were on our own in figuring everything out although it’s beautiful, we would not stay there again, most likely, and would not recommend it.

We returned to Bois Joli after 35 years and were delighted. The managing family has been able to maintain the calm and beauty of a unspoiled gem in the Caribbean. The new rooms on the beach are lovely. The facility still has a high level of service and the grounds are beautiful.

J’ai eu un grave accident de voiture la semaine précédent notre départ en Guadeloupe, multiples fractures aux vertèbres au sternum cœur touché. Je suis toujours actuellement à l’hôpital. Mon mari a contacté tous les hôtels réservés via expédia lors de ce qui devait être un magnifique voyage. Ils ont tous acceptés de rembourser et introduit eux-mêmes une demande d’annulation à expédia sauf l’hôtel Joli Bois qui refuse. Ils ont des règles mais c’est tout de même le seul hôtel qui manque à ce point d’empathie pour un tel cas de force majeure.

Excellent séjour ; réception très accueillante. Rapport qualité prix correct. Comme demandé, nous avons eu une chambre en hauteur dans la "résidence" partie de l'hôtel où les vues sont fabuleuses ! Chambre confortable. Belle piscine et plage littéralement à vos pieds un point fort : navette gratuite le jour pour le centre du village (près de l'endroit où arrivent les ferries). Un conseil : inutile de louer une voiturette électrique car c'est très cher et l'île est petite : avec la navette et un peu de marche en 2 jours vous pouvez tout voir.

Nous avons passé 2 nuits dans cet hôtel avec une amie. L emplacement est très bon, la vue est magnifique, les équipes sont très gentilles et accueillantes. Calme, disponibilité, ambiance de la chambre, piscine sont de véritables atouts. Une navette régulière permet de rejoindre le bourg mais le trajet peut aussi se faire à pied pour les sportifs. Nous avons adoré !
